Zion

Our next week in Utah, a good friend of David's came to stay with us.  We had a fun filled week with a camping trip to Zion National Park, a Pearl Jam concert, and some hanging out in Salt Lake.

It was the birthday weekend of one of my favorite new Salt Lake locals, Emily, so I made celebratory cupcakes for our camping trip (give me a reason to celebrate and I'm making cupcakes or a funfetti cake)

Enjoying the cupcakes on the way...

We arrived at Zion National Park around lunch time on Saturday.  For our first adventure we chose to hike Angel's Landing which ran along narrow rocks with dizzying drop offs on both sides.  At the beginning of this 5 mile journey we see this warning sign...

Scary, Huh??  Especially the do not feed the squirrels sign.  Nonetheless, we all managed to gather up enough courage to take on the challenge.

David was a little nervous of the 1000 foot drop off directly to our right...

Here's the whole crew towards the top of the hike.

All fears aside, we made it to the top an hour or so before sunset which gave us gorgeous views below.

That night we went out for dinner at this great place called Oscar's and set up camp for the night.

The next day we hiked the Narrows.  This breathtaking river trek was perfect as we all hadn't showered. All kidding aside, it was beautiful.  The temperatures were in the 90's, but walking through the cold water kept us comfortable.  The hiking trail is the Virgin River and about 70% of the time you are walking in knee deep water.

Zion is one of the most beautiful National Park I have ever visited.  Everyone should find the time to visit at some point in their lifetime.

Goodbye Zion,  we hope to see you again soon.
